Estimated Heating Bill Formula
The following formula is used to calculate the Estimated Heating Bill:
\[ \text{HB} = \frac{P \times U}{1000} \times \text{CE} \]
Where:
- HB is the Estimated Heating Bill ($/day)
- P is the heater power consumption (W)
- U is the average usage per day (hrs)
- CE is the cost of electricity ($/kWh)
How to Calculate Estimated Heating Bill?
To calculate the Estimated Heating Bill, follow these steps:
- Determine the power consumption (P): Find out the power consumption of your heater in watts.
- Estimate the average usage per day (U): Calculate how many hours per day the heater is used on average.
- Find out the cost of electricity (CE): Check your electricity bill or contact your utility provider to know the cost per kWh.
Example Calculation
If your heater consumes 1500 W, is used for 8 hours per day, and the cost of electricity is $0.12 per kWh, the calculation would be:
\[ \text{HB} = \frac{1500 \times 8}{1000} \times 0.12 = 14.4 \times 0.12 = 1.73 \text{ dollars/day} \]
